Witness the Beauty of Yosemite National Park
Monday, December 20, 2010
Yosemite National Park is located in East Central California. Yosemite was one of the first wilderness parks in the United States. The park receives over 3.7 million visitors each year! Yosemite is world renowned for its stunning granite cliffs, magnificent waterfalls, clean streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and abundance of biological diversity.
Yosemite is one of the largest and most complete habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada. The park supports a spectacular diversity of plants and animals. Approximately 95% of the park is designated wilderness. Of California's thousands of plant species, about 50% occur in the Sierra Nevada and more than 20% within Yosemite alone. A relatively high diversity of wildlife species are supported because of the relatively mild climate. Some types of wildlife typically found in the park include bear, bobcat, fox, deer, skink, woodpecker, owl, and many more!
