Experience the Great Outdoors in Bend
Monday, January 16, 2012
Often referred to as the “outdoor playground of the West”, the central Oregon town of Bend is equally as famous for its outdoor pursuits as it is for its pristine beauty. Majestic snow caps punctuate the gorgeous high-desert skyline, which just so happens to make for some of the best weather in the country (nearly 300 days of sunshine a year!)
A few of Bend’s many recreational activities include skiing, snowboarding, golfing, fishing, hiking, biking and rafting. Mount Bachelor, one of the top ski resorts in the North West, is just over 20 miles from downtown. Surrounded by millions of acres of forest, grassland, wetlands and hundreds of miles of fishable rivers and streams, Bend was originally formed as a lumber and ranching community. However, the city now relies on tourism as much as it does on logging and farming. Full of shops, galleries, restaurants and bars (including 7 microbreweries), Bend is a mecca for those looking to get away somewhere naturally beautiful and equally bountiful.
For a accommodations that are as warm and inviting as the mountain town itself:
