Unique Inns Adds Two New California Properties
Doris Day's Cypress Inn, located in Caramel, and Napa Valley's Cottage Grove Inn Join as Newest Members
PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 26, 2009) — Unique Inns, one of North America's first bed and breakfast innkeeping organizations, today announced it has added two new California members: the Cypress Inn, located in Carmel-By-The-Sea, and the Cottage Grove Inn, located in Calistoga. These new members bring the total number of Unique Inns' locations in California to 18, with an additional 22 locations in British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Doris Day's Cypress Inn Welcomes Four-Legged and Human Guests
The Cypress Inn is located in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, just blocks from the village's famous beach, shops, galleries and restaurants. The inn embodies the Mediterranean charm of old Carmel with a vaulted ceiling and welcoming fireplace in the living room and a beautifully landscaped courtyard. For more than 20 years, the Cypress Inn has been jointly owned by Dennis LeVett and Hollywood legend, Doris Day. LeVett and Day believe that pets are a part of the family and welcome well-behaved pets throughout the inn. All 44 rooms feature comfortable beds, marble tile bathrooms, cozy robes, complimentary cream sherry, nightly turndown service and special blankets for four-legged guests.
Accommodations at the Cypress Inn include an extended continental breakfast. Afternoon tea is available and includes tea sandwiches, homemade scones with jam and cream, cookies and a large selection of teas. Terry's Lounge offers a full range of mixed beverages and featured wines, as well as lunch, tapas, and gourmet dinners, including one of the best burgers on the peninsula.
Cottage Grove Inn in Calistoga Offers Private Luxury Cottages
The Cottage Grove Inn is nestled amidst a grove of century-old elm trees near Calistoga in Napa Valley wine country. The inn is a cluster of 16 private luxury cottages located just a short walk from Calistoga's renowned geothermal spas and the town's unique restaurants. The cottages feature two-person spa tubs, wood-burning fireplaces, and exquisite décor juxtaposed with the latest high-tech amenities. Each private cottage has a porch with wicker rockers to wind down after a day of wine country exploring. Complimentary bikes are available for an up-close trip through wine country backroads.
Guests are provided breakfast each morning that includes homemade waffles, fresh fruit smoothies, pastries and custom coffee drinks. The inn also offers guests an evening wine and cheese reception featuring Napa Valley wines.
