Dutch Butter Cookies

A crispity, crunchety, buttery cookie recipe from Turtleback Farm Inn that's easy to make and love!

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup Crisco or other solid shortening
1 egg yolk
1 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
1 egg white diluted with 2 tsp water
3/4 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350. Butter the bottom of a 12″ x 15″ rimmed baking pan. In a food processor – cream butter, cinnamon, salt and vanilla, pulse until blended. Press evenly into the bottom of the baking pan. Bruch with egg whites and sprinkle with nuts. Bake for 20 minutes, cut into squares while still warm.
