Attend the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest
The Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest has been an ongoing tradition in Cannon Beach since 1964 when an earthquake in Alaska triggered a tsunami that hit the Oregon Coast. Locals organized a community activity while waiting for the north-end bridge to be fixed. The Sandcastle Contest itself will be held this year on June 21st, 2025.
The Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest also features a concert and bonfire which are a great way to enjoy the beach with other sandcastle fans outside the contest. At the bonfire, there will be live music and s'mores! Bringing a lawn chair or blanket to sit on is encouraged. This is a free event for all beachgoers and attendees.
